Erected in 1922, the Chase Apartments building had originally been built as one of the most luxurious apartment buildings in St. Louis at its stately location on Lindell Boulevard, directly across the street from Forest Park. In the 1950’s KPLR-TV, one of the first independent television stations in the US was created and the first four floors of the building served as its headquarters until the Koplar family sold the station and the building in 1998.

Koplar Properties returned to its roots by repurchasing the apartment building in 2010 and set out to return the building to its intended use as St. Louis’ premier apartment building. After a yearlong gut renovation, Koplar Properties re-opened the building as the York House in January 2012, ushering in a new era for this storied property.
