Work begins on new St. Louis apartment tower in the Central West End
By Steph Kukuljan – St. Lous Post-Dispatch July 8, 2025 – Work has started on a new, 30-story apartment tower in the city’s Central West End neighborhood.
The developer, Chicago-based Albion Residential, announced Tuesday that the company had closed on its construction loan for the project at Kingshighway and Lindell Boulevard.
Albion West End will consist of 305 luxury apartments and 1,700 square feet of ground-level retail space. It will be located next to the One Hundred Above the Park apartment tower when it opens in 2027.
The developer has started site work, or preparing the lot for the building to be erected, with a formal groundbreaking scheduled for September, according to a release. The site is currently a vacant lot that has been used for parking.
“Building new housing, and a lot of it, is what St. Louis needs,” Mayor Cara Spencer said in a statement. “This project turns a parking lot into 300 apartments in one of our city’s most in-demand neighborhoods, enabling more people to live in St. Louis and be part of the exciting urban lifestyle that we have on offer.”
The Board of Aldermen approved subsidies valued at $9.7 million for the project in 2023.
“It’s a bright day in St. Louis when we can turn a vacant lot into a beautiful tower that will provide more housing and a sign of progress for our city,” Michael Browning, the alderman for the area, said in a statement. “I can’t wait for it to bring new people to St. Louis. This tower will benefit everyone in the city, reaffirming that this is a great place to live.”
